Indications Unituss Junior is used in people over two years of age in: symptomatic treatment of unproductive (dry) cough of various origins.
Composition 10 ml of syrup contains: active ingredient: levodropropizine 60 mg, excipients: methyl parahydroxybenzoate (E 218), propyl parahydroxybenzoate (E 216), sucrose, strawberry flavor 502301T: propylene glycol (E 1520) and fragrances, citric acid monohydrate (E 330) , sodium hydroxide, purified water.
Action Cough suppression.
Dosage Always take your medicine exactly as described in this leaflet, or as directed by your doctor or pharmacist. If you are not sure, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice. Children over 2 years old weighing 10-20 kg: 3 ml of syrup 3 times a day. Children over 2 years old weighing 20-30 kg: 5 ml of syrup 3 times a day. Children weighing over 30 kg, adolescents and adults: 10 ml of syrup 3 times a day. Unitus Junior is taken orally 3 times a day with an interval of at least 6 hours. The measuring cup attached to the bottle makes it easy to measure out 3, 5 and 10 ml of syrup. Do not take Unituss Junior Syrup for more than 7 days without first consulting your doctor.
Contraindications. Allergy to the active substance or any other ingredient in Unituss Junior Syrup. Abundant secreted bronchial and ciliary disorders of the bronchial epithelium (Kartagener’s syndrome, ciliary dyskinesia). Pregnancy, breastfeeding. Do not give the drug to children under 2 years of age. Storage Unituss Junior should be stored out of the reach of children at temperatures below 25 ° C. Do not refrigerate or freeze the medicine. Unituss Junior can be used safely for up to 6 months from the first opening of the vial (if the expiration date printed on the packaging permits). Side effects This medicine, like all medicines, can cause side effects, although not everyone gets them. Side effects are very rare during treatment with Unituss Junior, in most cases they are not serious and disappear after treatment is stopped. However, sometimes it happens that they require specific pharmacological treatment. If you experience any of the following symptoms, stop taking this medicine and seek medical attention immediately: severe cases of skin reactions (urticaria, itching) or skin conditions such as blistering (epidermolysis) irregular heartbeat (risk of atrial bigemia), allergic and / or anaphylactic reaction (in the form of edema, shortness of breath, vomiting, diarrhea), hypoglycemic coma. Tell your doctor right away if you notice any of these side effects as they can be life threatening. Using Unituss Junior as directed on the package insert reduces the risk of side effects. Very rare (affects less than 1 in 10,000 patients): urticaria, erythema, rash, pruritus, angioedema (swelling usually affecting the face or throat, potentially life-threatening), skin reactions, abdominal pain, abdominal pain, nausea , vomiting, diarrhea, allergic reactions, including immediate general malaise, dizziness, imbalance, tremor, tingling, numbness, palpitations, tachycardia, low blood pressure, irritability, drowsiness, depersonalization (impaired perception of self and environment), shortness of breath, cough, swelling of the airway mucosa, lack or lack of strength (asthenia) and weakness in the legs. Not known (frequency cannot be estimated from the available data): glossitis and alt-stomatitis with fever, inflammation caused by blockage of the flow of bile from the liver (cholestatic hepatitis) cases of generalized edema, fainting and weakness, seizures – grand mal seizure (clonic- tonic seizures) and small epileptic seizures (non-convulsive, the so-called petit mal seizure), dilated pupils and loss of vision (in both cases, the symptoms disappeared after discontinuation of the drug), cases of eyelid edema, most of which can be considered angioedema, given the concomitant occurrence of urticaria drowsiness , decreased muscle tone and vomiting in the newborn, which were associated with the ingestion of levodropropizine taken by the nursing mother (symptoms appeared after feeding and disappeared spontaneously after skipping several breastfeeds). Interactions Tell your doctor or pharmacist about all medicines you are taking or have recently taken, and any medicines you plan to use. In human studies, changes in the EEG curve with the introduction of levodropropizine in combination with benzodiazepines were not observed. Caution should be exercised with the simultaneous use of sedatives (especially sensitive people). Taking the drug with food and drink Due to the lack of data on the effect of food on the absorption of the drug, it is recommended to use syrup between meals.
Warnings and precautions Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before using Unituss Junior. Unituss Junior is used for the symptomatic treatment of a non-productive (dry) cough and should only be used pending diagnosis of the cause of the cough and/or the effect of a separate treatment for the underlying condition. Unituss Junior contains sucrose, methyl parahydroxybenzoate, propyl parahydroxybenzoate and propylene glycol. If you have taken a higher dose than prescribed, tell your doctor or pharmacist immediately. If you miss a dose, do not double it to make up for it. Just take your next dose at the usual time. It is recommended to use the drug with caution in patients with severe renal insufficiency (creatinine clearance <35 ml / min). Use in children and adolescents Unituss Junior should not be used in children under 2 years of age. Use in the Elderly Levodropropizine should be used with extreme caution in the elderly, as there is evidence of changes in susceptibility to several drugs in this group of patients. Pregnancy, breast-feeding and fertility Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking this medicine if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you are pregnant or are planning to become pregnant. The drug is contraindicated in tests for a child, during pregnancy and lactation. Driving and Operating Equipment No studies have been conducted to assess the ability to drive and operate machines with the Unituss Junior. Due to the fact that in rare cases the drug can cause drowsiness, you should be especially careful when driving a vehicle or operating machinery and refrain from these actions if you feel drowsy.
