Colludol is a locally acting medicine presented in the form of a mouthwash . It contains an antiseptic and a local anesthetic, and is indicated as an adjunct treatment in cases of mild sore throat without fever, mouth ulcers and small mouth wounds .
The active ingredients of Colludol are hexamidine diisethionate (0.100 g) and lidocaine hydrochloride (0.200 g) per 100 ml of solution. The excipients are composed of glycerol and sucrose and the flavors of passion fruit, peach and mint.
Colludol throat spray dosage
Colludol is used as an oral spray .
In adults, the dosage is 1 to 2 sprays 3 times a day.
In children, it can be used from 6 years old at a rate of 1 spray 1 to 3 times a day.
The doses should be spaced 4 hours apart.
Do not exceed 5 days of treatment without medical advice.
Precautions for use with Colludol throat mouthwash
Never use Colludol on a child under 6 years old or in case of allergy to one of the components (local anesthetics and hexamidine). In children from 6 to 12 years old, medical advice is necessary.
As with all mouthwashes containing a local anesthetic, it is imperative not to spray Colludol before any ingestion of food or drink, due to the risk of choking.
In case of repeated use, the active ingredients of Colludol penetrate the bloodstream and can cause risks of overdose such as excitement, nausea, vomiting, convulsions or impaired consciousness, as well as heart problems. Please respect the dosages carefully.
In case of worsening of symptoms or without signs of improvement after 5 days of treatment, a medical consultation is necessary.
Colludol should not be combined with the taking of another local antiseptic medicine.
Colludol is not recommended during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
The lidocaine present in Colludol may induce a positive reaction to doping controls.
