Product information
The active substances are: diphenhydramine hydrochloride (Diphenhydramini hydrochloridum) and lidocaine hydrochloride monohydrate (Lidocaini hydrochloridum monohydricum).
1 g of gel contains: 20 mg of diphenhydramine hydrochloride and 10 mg of lidocaine hydrochloride monohydrate.
Excipients: propylene glycol (E 1520), hydroxyethyl cellulose, citronella essential oil, edetate disodium, purified water.
Dosage
Always use this medicine exactly as described in the package leaflet or as directed by your doctor or pharmacist. Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.
Children from 2 years of age, adolescents and adults: apply a small amount of gel to the affected area of the skin 2 or 3 times a day and spread it gently.
Action
The drug is antiallergic, antipruritic and local anesthetic.
Indications
Allefin is indicated for the symptomatic treatment of inflammatory and allergic skin lesions associated with itching caused by insect bites and contact with plants, e.g. nettle.
Contraindications
Do not use the drug in case of hypersensitivity to any component of the product and in the case of exudative and follicular dermatoses.
Side effects
Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
So far, no increased side effects have been reported with the topical administration of diphenhydramine and lidocaine. With frequency not known: erythema and allergic reactions.
Warnings and Precautions
The medicinal product should be used with caution after neurological paralysis and in heart failure.
Skin treated with Allefin should not be exposed to sunlight.
Use of other medications
Tell your doctor or pharmacist about all the drugs you are taking or have recently taken, and about any drugs you plan to take, including those sold without a prescription.
Caution should be exercised if the patient is taking: metoprolol, venlafaxine, sulfonamides, antiarrhythmic drugs and local anesthetics, MAO inhibitors, tricyclic antidepressants, phenothiazines and anticoagulants.
Pregnancy and breastfeeding
If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.
Due to the lack of studies confirming the safety of the drug, use during pregnancy and breastfeeding should be avoided.
Use of the drug in children and adolescents
Do not use in children under 2 years of age.
